this is getting out of hand.

this is absolutely horrifying. the number of black people who have been killed by either the police, security, or members of their own community since the beginning of this year is absolutely disgusting. there is absolutely no reason for this to be happening. i can’t believe the racial prejudices that still exist in america; it revolts me. to think that twenty-nine people have been killed without real reason just because of their skin color is utterly appalling.

i recently started my photography internship with flying kite media, a local news source for the greater philadelphia area. their current project is called “on the ground” - the headquarters is planted in an urban area that gets very little news coverage. this time around, it’s located in west philly on 4017 lancaster avenue. it’s a low income neighborhood with a primarily black population, but honestly, it’s a really amazing place. i’ve loved working and photographing there so far and have met some incredible people. sure, there’s crime, but there’s crime everywhere. i don’t know why people are so quick to judge others just because of their skin.

i will never understand the prejudices that exist against race, sexual orientation, religion, etc. i wish there was more i could do and i want to do my part to raise awareness about the subject. i try my very best to hold no judgements and will continue to do so, i just wish that everyone could take a step back and realize we’re all human beings and therefore all connected at our core. i just want a world where people can all have equal opportunities and equal rights and an equal chance.
